Art of Worship

Something that came to my mind a week ago has been changing my actions and thoughts for the better: If art is the imitation of life. Then worship must be the imitation of God.

Basically you can sing a hymn and fail to worship, I know that's nothing new to your ears. But I think I am learning this in a different way than I have already believed.

It's very easy to say "Jesus loves you" to a stranger, in fact it's very easy to hand out tracts and preach to someone. I wish that was the point of Christianity, because that would make everything much easier, but Jesus told us to Love God with all our heart, soul and mind and love our neighbor as ourselves. From looking at how much we love ourselves we've got a lot of work to do.

Basically worship is handling a situation in a Godly way and since God is love, then I've got to do things in a more Godly way, then just smiling at people. I should want to feed the hungry because I know what it's like to be hungry at times and I love them enough to feed them, not trying to impress anyone [or even just impress myself].

It seems like our lives are like owning brand new cars; like every brand new car it is made without gas in the tank. We all have these great cars but we are in a parking lot not getting anywhere. Then some Christians walk around to the rest of the car owners saying "gas is the answer, you need gas in your tank, stop trying to fill it with water, etc" but we aren't showing them that it's making our cars run, because we are walking, not driving. But maybe, we should be driving around the parking lot offering rides, and people will say "wait a minute how did you get your car to run?". I hope that makes sense, we shouldn't tell people love is the answer, without loving.

I know gas will make my car run, but at this point I need to learn how and where to drive.

I certainly don't have it figured out. But all I know is I try to love people on my own, and it's always more real when God is just loving through me and I am not always sure how to let Him.
